My RunStreak Heroes!

Who inspires you?

Last year, my friend and super PLNer Heather Theijsmeijer started something big. I didn’t know about run streaks, but give me a cause, a community, and a plan and I am in. She challenged us to run at least a mile a day for 35 days – November 28, 2019 to January 1, 2020. #EducatorsONtheRun was born. Some of the participants forgot to stop on January 1, and kept running daily for the entire year (almost…).

This year we are doing it all again, and we want you to join us. Let’s streak 2020 right off the calendar and jump into 2021 healthier than ever!

Start on Thursday, November 26. Share a pic on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #educatorsONtherun or add a specific province like #mbedruns or #nledruns. Walk, hike, bike, ski, skate, swim, run – just go move for a mile and take a moment to share and inspire others.

Now for my heroes:

  1. Heather Theijsmeijer – @htheijsmeijer

Heather is the brains, the inspiration and all the resilience behind #educatorsONtherun Since last November she has been encouraging everyone to move, to keep going, to share, to urge others on, because once we get out that door, our day can’t help but get better.

Heather started #RWrunstreakeh in May 2020 and never looked back.

Today she is at Day 263 of running #atleastamileaday

2) Michael Jacobs – @msbjacobs

I didn’t know Michael when #educatorsONtherun started last year, and we have never met, but he never stopped!

Michael Jacobs – three days short of running #atleastamileaday for a whole year

This is really amazing to me. I know he is injured right now, and just coming off an injury of my own, I suspect it is really, really hard to get these last few days in. Bravo, Michael.

Here is Michael on Day 1:

Any day can be Day 1, but let’s start together on Thursday November 26 and see where committing to 37 days of getting outside and moving a mile can take us – right into a new year!

Please share. We are in this together.
